The "Fig Wasp Charm" is a special gesture towards the symbiotic relationship between the fig tree and the so-called fig wasp. In ancient times, the tiny fig wasp and the fig tree evolved together where the fig tree required the fig wasp to pollinate its (inverted) flowers and the fig wasp needed the fig fruits to lay eggs. Most modern figs today are bred not to need these insects for pollination. This charm is a symbol of the connection of our food to the natural world.
